Anskri is Swedish for ”involuntarily erupting expression of an immediate emotion”. What follows this initial emotional expression? The piece asks are there any positive ramifications following the corona pandemic? How to proceed? What kind of a world are we leaving behind us and for whom?
Anskri is a site-specific dance piece which will take place at the old Renlund school, recently renamed Taidetalo Renlund (Arthouse Renlund) in Kokkola, Finland. Taidetalo Renlund is a physical space with its history. We will juxtapose the mental state brought upon by the recent pandemic with this physical space and offer visions of the future on a personal and societal level.
The choreography for the piece has been worked on at the Shawbrook Residency in Ireland in June 2019. The work will be continued in conjunction with the DANCE ALL YEAR LONG project in Kokkola Sept 28th - Oct 9th 2020. The working period in Kokkola will conclude with an open showing Sat Oct 10th 2020 at 2pm. The duration of the piece is approx. 45 min and the showing will be followed by an artist meeting.

Janne Aspvik graduated as a Bachelor of Art (Dance) from the Theatre Academy in 2010. He has worked as a dancer in Helsinki City Theatre and in performances by Tero Saarinen, Elina Pirinen, Janina Rajakangas, Liisa Pentti, Mikko Hyvönen, Petri Kekoni, Alpo Aaltokoski and Maya M. Carroll. In 2016, he was chosen to participate in David Zambrano's one-month EXIN course. Aspvik has also worked as a choreographer since 2012, and has worked as a dance instructor in many professional and student courses.
